ARCHDIOCESE OF NEW ORLEANS KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS
ESSAY, POETRY AND POSTER CONTEST

Theme: KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS

Each school of religious education may submit one essay, one poem and one poster from each category. The categories are:

Category One: Grades 3, 4, and 5

Category Two: Grades 6, 7, and 8

Category Three: Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12

Entries must be received by Monday, November 12, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. They can be hand delivered or mailed, but no late entries will be accepted. 

The winning entries (only one essay, poem and poster from each category entered) must be delivered to the Office of Catholic Schools, 7887 Walmsley Ave., New Orleans, LA 70125, in a 12 x 15 inch envelope, clearly labeled: Keep Christ in Christmas Contest, school name, contact person’s name and phone number. Enclosed with the entries a list of student names, grades and categories entered. Mailed entries must be received by the deadline. Eligible entries will follow these criteria.

Poster:
  • 11 inches by 14 inches, white poster board 
  • Black ink, very dark pencil or colored pencil 
  • Labeled on back with student's name, grade level and school name. 

Essay
  • 250 word minimum (300 word maximum)
  • Preferably typed or legibly handwritten, please print or type on one side of paper.
  • Staple cover sheet to each entry containing student's name, grade level, and school. 

Poetry
  • Any length.
  • Preferably typed or legibly handwritten, please print or type on one side of paper.
  • Staple cover sheet to each entry containing student's name, grade level, and school 

After judging, winners will be contacted and arrangements will be made with the school for presentation of awards (plaque). Winning entries will be given to The Clarion Herald for publication. Entries can be picked up by schools at the CCSCC January or March general meetings, or arrangements can be made to pick up at Office of Catholic Schools.
